THE RELUCTANT POET

I used to dislike the art of poetry
They sound so boring and full of mystery
Getting the message was pure agony
You won't understand them without a dictionary

I never thought I'd be a poet
But disasters and depression I got hit
I need to unload those mixed emotions
I must do something to stay sane and move on

One day I discovered an old poem
Tucked in my old documents it was hidden
It was sitting there for more than twelve years
As I read the poem it moved me to tears

The author of the poem was a person I know
A man so down and full of sorrow
He wrote that poem with sadness yet happy
I almost can't believe the very author was me

The poem was clear, simple yet full of message
I realized not all poems should be complicated and vague
The main object is to convey idea and emotions
No need of complicated words and make readers like morons

And so I tried to write new poems
My friends in facebook seem to like them
So I just went on and kept on writing
After few months I have hundreds of them

They said poets are meant to be poor and sad
Some said poets are self centered and unloved
On the contrary, poets are happy people with so much to share
We write to educate and convey idea, we are mere entertainers.
